I respect your decision to pursue your passions. I deeply regret the withdrawal of your voice from the political blogosphere. You and Joel Rosenthal are sane Republicans. We don't hear from you guys enough. Our public conversation is richer with your participation.

Bill Fleming

I second Cory's. Willl keep an eye out for your less frequent musings and bookmark your other page. Thanks for all the fun these past few years. You got style, brother.

Ken Blanchard

Thanks, Cory and Bill. Both of you have made this a lot more fun.

Ken, I will check out your new blog from time to time. I did take a look at it ... I'll need a tot of Green Fizz before I check it out again!

All five of my brain cells will have to come fully online if I expect to follow you there.

It's great to have forums where people with diverse viewpoints can engage in civil discussions.

hi It's a nice post.

duggersd

I will miss the musing here, but will check out the new place. Best wishes.

Ken Santema

I will definitely miss your posts here! Even though I rarely have time to comment on blogs, I can assure you I've always looked forward to your views.
Going forward your new project seems very interesting. I look forward to your newly focused views.

Cliff Hadley

Every calling ends. Glad you'll keep typing. Godspeed, professor.

Thank you, Don Pay, for helping to send this blog into the manure spreader of history.

Oh yeah, Doc: your Live365 jazz station has been added to interested party's Other Media list. Expect a bill.

Ken Blanchard

Thanks to Dugger, Ken and Cliff. I am very grateful to my readers. I am keeping this blog open and I suspect I will post from time to time. I might even find someone to take it over.

Larry: thanks for the Live365 thing. I suspect that you and I could have been friends.

Larry,

I don't take any credit for KB ending his association with this blog. In fact, I will miss KB's posts here. Even though I don't agree with many of his political and economic ideas, he encouraged a free-flowing exchange of facts and opinions.

Blogs and people who post on them tend to emphasize differences, but we do have lots in common. For example, KB is right that we need to be concerned about excessive debt. We probably have differences about what level of debt would be "excessive," and about how to lower, or at least, not add to that debt. He is also right about the need to address Medicare spending.

I learned a lot here, if for no other reason than to find and bring some facts forward in the arguments we have had. Even if he didn't convince me of the correctness of his views, and I didn't convince him of the the absolute certainty of mine, I know we both probably learned something from the exchange. I know I did.

0 0I'm not sure where I stand on this. I have no trouble aireegng that tobacco is a burden on the health care system, but the tobacco companies technically didn't do anything wrong. A lot of toxins are produced when burning tobacco, and there are limits set as to how many toxins are allowed through (similar to the small margin of allowable toxins in drinking water, for example). It just happens that the limits imposed on tobacco companies are high enough to cause problems.

+ Wow even more impressed with the final ruelst! It doesn't matter that you don't remember each step you took in the process (a painter doesn't remember every stroke, right?) just that your skills got you to where you got. Sigh.. I'm so proud of my little Karin now that she's all growned up!
