Are you talking about "ethics" arguments, KB?
That's what I see that the two clips have in common anyway.

I am reminded of Jackson Browne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJYRtOPUonA

Bill: I refer to the fact that, when nothing else is working, you rely on this sort of thing. The Noem issue is serious, but it has been pretty thoroughly vetted. Its coming back now because it's all that has worked against Noem.
The Chamber of Commerce thing is a scurrilous fabrication.

Well, I might quibble with that a little, KB. It's probably the argument that has worked the BEST,
but probably not the ONLY argument that works. I'm guessing we'll be seeing all of them over
the next few weeks.

Bill: we are in the final stretch and this is the argument her campaign comes back to. Before the ticket story broke, Noem was a head by what looked like an insurmountable margin. Afterward, Herseth Sandlin led by a few points. This is the story that moved the polls.

Yes, KB, no doubt it is the argument that moves the most votes when they do the message polling. It's pretty easy to see why, don't you think? I'm just saying there are probably other arguments that tested well too. But perhaps not across the board like this one did. Some of them might work better if delivered in more vertical channels. Direct mail, for example.

Looks like maybe the other argument that works against Noem
is the fact that SHS got the NRA's endorsement.
Why would anyone who wants us to trust her mail something
as obviously deceptive as this to people who know better?

Sorry, Bill, people who are hunters and advocates of the second amendment know how NRA endorsements work and that this endorsement method needs to be changed. They also know who are true supporters of gun rights and will work to protect them. This flyer stated that Kristi has an A rating from the NRA, which is true. It states that Kristi was endorsed by another gun rights group, which is correct. Nothing deceptive, just irritating to some.

Yes, Lynn, most people know that SHS got the NRA endorsement.
Those who don't (the target audience of this flyer) will think Kristi did.
That is deceptive because it intentionally leads the reader to a false conclusion.
Very dishonest.
