Wow, what a game! I like the Metrodome more than most Twins fans like it. It is like watching a baseball game in a very large living room. Of course, I don't have to track fly balls there. But it has been the Twins home for a long time, and tonight our boys gave it a very good send off.
The lead changed hands several times. Both pitching and batting were on fine display. And there were a number of magnificent defensive plays executed by both sides. Sliding catches, elegantly executed double plays, and pitchers shutting down the offense with the bases loaded, that is what I call baseball!
And best of all, our boys took the American League Central. After a mostly mediocre season. After closing a seven game deficit. After winning what, sixteen of their last twenty games? This is a team with heart.
Of course, about eighteen hours after Alexi Casilla batted in Carlos Gomez, the Twins will have to play the Yankees. I believe. I believe. It's silly, but I believe.
