Today is the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and it would not be right to ignore it.
I did not know anyone who perished in the attacks, but I remember how horrifying the news and the images that came with it were. I remember how the members of Congress sang God Bless America on the Capitol steps. I also remember the way people in America and around the world came together in vigils, with songs, with tears and with memories of those whose lives were taken away. Finally, I remember the kind wishes that poured in from friends and even former enemies across the globe.
To those who lost loved ones - my thoughts and prayers are with you. To those who are now fighting in defense of this country - thank you. And to those around the globe who still support us, even though doing so has not been popular - thank you too.
