With
unemployment so high at large, you’d think the Obama Administration wouldn’t
have so much trouble filling its open positions. But it is.
H. Rodgin Cohen, Obama’s pick for the number 2 post at Treasury,
withdrew because an “issue” arose during vetting. We don’t know what the issue was, yet, and
may never know. But it’s pretty clear
that Obama has allowed the process to slip out of his control, due to the
mini-scandals that have occurred. He should
have stuck to his guns on the “this is a crisis and we need the best men on the
job” stance that worked with Geithner.
But he didn’t, and now, during this crisis, the Treasury department has
a lot of vacant chairs. This looks like a Bill Clinton-like loss of courage on Obama's part.
