A couple weeks ago at the height of the Limbaugh madness, Limbaugh challenged President Obama to come on his show and debate Limbaugh. This was a gimmick, of course, because no president could, or should, demean himself to respond to challenges of radio talk show hosts. Limbaugh knew Obama would never come on his show, which is why this was an empty gesture.
It's too bad then that President Obama has chosen the Jay Leno show to make his case for his $3.6 trillion budget. No president should go on a celebrity talk show to discuss matters of such national importance. These are serious times requiring serious leadership, not the president being interviewed by a comedian. Obama has likely chosen this show because he knows Leno will not ask any tough questions. I don't know if this is beneath Barack Obama, but it is certainly beneath the office which he holds. He should reconsider.
BTW, remember when candidate Obama chastised John McCain for saying the fundamentals of the economy were sound? That truth is no longer operative.
