Today's must read is Wilfred McClay' s "The Idea of Change in American Politics" (pdf alert). McClay is professor of history at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. This is one of the most insightful pieces on language and politics I have read. He concludes with a discussion of Barack Obama the the "promise" of American life. Read this piece.
