Everybody's Talking At Me

This letter appeared in the Aberdeen American News:

We live in America, why not talk American?

If you go to Russia, China or Japan, do they stop talking their language and talk English to you? No.

So why do we need to learn to talk Spanish? If you cannot talk English go back to your own country. If they had to talk English they wouldn't come to the United States.

I agree. I can't remember the last time I hear someone talking American.  When I was in England, I heard a bunch of people speaking English, but over here I find it hard to find someone talking American.
