I didn't even know there was a Freedom From Religion Foundation, until this post from Joe Knippenberg about how the FFRF is attacking the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch because of the Ranch's affiliation with the Lutheran church (both LCMS and ELCA) and its receipt of some government funds. See Joe's post about the success of the Ranch and how the outside accreditation agency found no indication that the Ranch was using government funds to advance their religion.
This reminds of something I was told when in Scotland. We stayed with ministers of the Church of Scotland while in the country. Two of them told me that despite the fact the Church of Scotland social service programs are routinely cited by the government for "best practices" and are recognized as the best in the country, recently the Scottish Parliament has decided that religious groups can no longer use public facilities, seriously damaging the Church's ability to serve the people of Scotland as they are now limited as to where they can "set up shop". I am sure the Freedom From Religion Foundation would be proud, even if the recovering addicts and and mentally ill of Scotland are now worse off.
Update: I changed some wording in the first paragraph for clarity's sake.
