From Roll Call
Best wishes to newly engated Rep. Stephanie Herseth (D-S.D.). We hear she and her fiance, former Rep. Max Sandlin (D-Texas), plan to get married on March 31. "Details of the wedding haven't been made available, and I would advise against speculation," Herseth spokesman Russ Levsen said, neither confirming nor denying the wedding date. A friend of Sandlin told HOH the wedding is scheduled for March 31 in Herseth's hometown in South Dakota. Herseth, a head-turner on Capitol Hill, reportedly announced her engagement to friends during her 36th birthday party in Rapid City, S.D., last month. She and Sandlin, 54, who is now a lobbyist, met in 2002 when the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee assigned Sandlin to be Herseth's "mentor" when she ran for Congress the first time. Congratulations, lovebirds!
