More On Moderation

A few weeks ago I blogged on moderation, in part using Harry Jaffa's interpretation of Lincoln to argue in defense of moderation and against extremism.  Reader James Drake reminds us via email that Harry Jaffa in fact wrote the Goldwater line "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice."  See here for some thoughts and a fine corrective.  We should advocate strongly for liberty, courage, and all other virtues.  But I still maintain that we should not argue for extreme interpretations of liberty or courage.
