The political establishment in South Dakota is lining up behind the new railroad project (except Tom Daschle and Bill Janklow, who are being paid by Mayo to kill the project):
Former Governors Harvey Wollman, Walter D. Miller, and Frank L. Farrar, and former Senators Jim Abdnor and Larry Pressler have signed on to an ad in today's Argus Leader in support of the DM&E project. The ad was paid for by GOTRAC. It is on the back of today's "Voices" section of the Argus Leader.
It says:
An Open Letter to the citizens of South Dakota
As former leaders of South Dakota, we support the DM&E railroad upgrade plan. It represents an extraordinary opportunity for South Dakota. We salute today's leaders - Senator John Thune, Senator Tim Johnson, Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth, Governor Mike Rounds - for showing vision in their united effort to create the first new Class I railroad in South Dakota history. This $6 billion project would be the largest private investment in our State's history.
