Last April, Professor Schaff and I had occasion to watch the Twins play the White Sox in Comisky, ah, pardon me, Cellular One Field. Jon summed the situation up pretty well. The White Sox looked like they were coming off a World Series win, and the Twins looked mediocre at best. What a difference at this end of the summer! The Twins are 32-8 in their last 40 games. They beat the White Sox last night and again tonight, which puts them one game behind a tie for second place in the Central Division, and for the wild card spot.
Tonight's game was magnificent baseball, as I predicted it would be last month. Jason Bartlett hit a three run homer in the top of the 7th to put the Twins up 4 to 1. In the bottom Joe Crede hits out for two to make it 4 to 3. Joe Nathan gets the save with two Sox on board. Oh, and Nick Punto extended his hitting streak to 17 games. Great baseball. Better for Twins fans than South Siders.
