Want some good clean fun? Go here and scroll down to the Nomination Hearing on John Bolton, etc. Skip to hour three, minute twenty. See Bolton and John Kerry go at it. This Bolton is one sharp cookie, although making Senators look bad is not going to help his confirmation. HT Instapundit.
Update: This story explains that the Democrats might filibuster Bolton, since they don't have the votes to actually defeat him. Alan Dershowitz has come out in favor of Bolton. Perhaps Kerry's desperate attempt to make Bolton look bad is illustrative of a Democratic foreign policy gone haywire. Bolton points out that Japan, Britain, and France join the US in a certain interpretation of a UN Security Council resolution regarding North Korea. But Kerry is unhappy because the Russians have a different interpretation. What kind of "global test" is it that says that the opinion of the authoritarian Russians trumps the views of Japan, Britain, France and, for goodness sakes, the United States?
The essential Democratic argument against Bolton seems to be that he is too big a cheerleader for US interests as opposed to the interests of some make-believe "world community." John Bolton just doesn't play well with dictatorships, the way Bill Clinton used to. We'll have to see if Senator Johnson joins his colleagues in filibustering John Bolton.
