Rounds is on the job:
A statewide emergency will be declared to help move firefighters and their equipment around South Dakota to fight the growing number of wildfires caused by the drought, Gov. Mike Rounds said Thursday.
Rounds said his emergency declaration will make it easier to move volunteer firefighters and other emergency personnel to help tired and beleaguered firefighters in other areas. He said he also has authorized the state Wildland Fire Division to contract with another two airplane tankers and an additional firefighting crew to help stop prairie fires before they can grow to huge blazes.
