From a Whalen Press release:
BRUCE WHALEN FOR U. S. CONGRESS ISSUES A THREE POINT FEDERAL DISASTER RELIEF PLAN
- Farmers and ranchers in disaster areas will be sheltered from Federal Income Tax on revenue with the reinvestment of that income in their land and future drought protection. This relief will help South Dakota farmers and ranchers survive this historic drought and further develop South Dakota’s own ethanol and biodiesel production.
- The Federal Government will provide diesel fuel to the farmers and ranchers in disaster areas at a $1.00 per gallon less than market price. This will lower per ton hay costs and help feed South Dakota’s livestock.
- Provide for a permanent solution to South Dakota’s struggling rural water system. On Wednesday in Belvidere, SD, the water pressure was so low that the state had to shut down the rest stop. If we as a state cannot provide enough water pressure to flush a toilet then how will we fill our fire trucks to protect our local communities or to send brush trucks to fight the wild land fires burning in South Dakota this week? This has evolved beyond the need for water for our state’s Ag land into a real life public safety issue. We must provide this basic safety infrastructure to all rural communities.
