In an Argus article on video lottery, one finds this nugget from one who supports video lottery against attempts to erradicate it through the initiative process.
Proponents of video lottery deride ease of initiative process
In fact, the industry's first step is to try to keep Brendtro's initiative off the ballot.
"This isn't as much about video lottery as it is about the initiative process,'' Hartford said. It's too easy to place issues on the ballot, he said, and "they (lottery foes) can lose again and again, but we can only lose once.''
The last time the issue surfaced, Hartford reviewed signatures on the petitions. He said he found numerous duplicates and other irregularities that could have been the basis of a legal challenge to the petition. His group chose not to do that then.
What an elitist.
