The Argus Leader today doesn't report that Roger Andal ran to chair the state Democratic Party in 1998, ran for the legislature as a Democrat a few times, and headed up Vets for Gore and Vets for Kerry, but in a story today they do note this:
Andal freely admits there's an ideological divide between himself and Thune. He worked for former Sen. Tom Daschle more than 20 years ago. Thune defeated Daschle in a bitter 2004 election.
Andal also said he headed veterans' groups for Daschle's and Sen. Tim Johnson's political campaigns against Thune. He served as an officer of Daschle's New Leadership for America political action committee, and he has contributed nearly $8,000 to Democratic candidates and organizations in the past decade, according to federal campaign finance reports.
