Someone tells David Newquist what they think. David wrote:
The Democratic leadership in Pierre always appears to have a greater capacity for wetting its pants than in taking any leadership in asserting the basic values of democratic, honest government. It is no wonder Rounds flouts, flaunts, and flies that damned airplane in their faces. He gets away with it--and he would not in most states.
They are intimidated by the threats that they may appear unreasonable and acting against the will of the people if they get assertive on any issue. That is why South Dakota is ranked at the absolute bottom of the states for open, fair government.
The Democratic leadership and the Third-World government it allows is one of the major reasons for the brain-drain in this state. What does it matter if the crime rate is low when graft and abuses of power are, in effect, made legal by those too timid to enforce the standards of open, clean government?
To which someone replied:
Good grief, David, you rank SD right up there with the Third World gov'ts? If this state is so bad, go somewhere else; or if you are so much better (in your opinion) than the leaders of SD, run yourself and change something. My SD district has 3 Dem Congress people, so don't say it can't be done.
