I am with Mark Steyn:
I dunno, guys, an "American Competitiveness Initiative"? Isn't there something a little ridiculous about the government, which has no competition, running a competitiveness initiative? It's like the old gag about the British Government's equivalent to the anti-trust guys: Why is there only one Monopolies Commission? It also sounds a lot like Gerhard Schroder's "Year of Innovation" when he inaugurated a German "Innovation Council", even though the first sign of a genuinely innovative culture is that it's too busy innovating to sit around at meetings of a government innovation council.
