The confirmation hearings of Samuel Alito began today in Washington, as the nominee sat down in front of the Judiciary Committee to address the committee, and very soon, will begin to take questions from the committee.
The Washington Times has a good article about what may happen if Democrats feel Alito is ducking questions during the hearings
Democrat Senator Charles Schumer warned of a possible filibuster.
"If he continuously, given his previous record, refused to answer questions and hid behind 'I can't answer this because it might come before me,' it would increase the chances of a filibuster," Mr. Schumer said.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, appearing on Fox News Sunday was also asked if she would potentially filibuster Alito.
"If I believed he was going to go in there and overthrow Roe ... most likely 'yes,'".
It appears as if right now their is no plan for filibuster, but things may change once the serious questions begin flying.
