So much for a positive, upbeat campaign

As predicted, the Argus Leader nimbly follows up a report in Roll Call yesterday about John Thune's campaign finances. The AL headline reads "Thune spending questioned." It's interesting that the Roll Call story never once used the words "Thune" and "break the law" in the same sentence in their story on the matter. By contrast, the AL story puts the words "Thune" and variations of "break the law" in three different sentences. Do you come away with the impression that Thune broke the law when you read the AL story? Good. That's the impression you're supposed to get.
