Judd Greg withdraws from Commerce Nomination
New York Times: Senior New Hampshire Senator Judd Greg is the second Obama pick for Commerce Secretary to withdraw his name. Unlike Bill Richardson, who withdrew due to ethical questions, Judd was a Republican who apparently concluded that he had irreconcilable differences with the President over economic policy.
It was shrewd of Obama to pick Judd, thus taking a very competent Republican out of the Senate and putting him in a relatively unimportant post. I think Judd was right to conclude that he would not be a good fit for the Obama administration in that capacity.
